We have lots of Bats!
This is an extract of the findings of an ecology review undertaken by Severn Trent Water Authority in the local area of Grange Lane. It demonstrated the richness of our rural land. (See the full report here)








Bats
- Records: 14 records of 6 bat species within 1 km.
- Closest: Brown long-eared bat, 260 m south-east.
- Habitat: Trees and buildings with potential roosting features.
- Foraging: Good foraging and commuting habitat on site. Lighting recommendations made to prevent disturbance.
Hedgehogs
- Records: 6 records within 1 km.
- Closest: 80 m south.
- Habitat: Suitable foraging and refuge habitats on site and nearby.
Brown Hare
- Records: 1 record within 1 km.
- Closest: 850 m east.
- Habitat: Potential for use of site’s grassland and hedgerows.
Polecat
- Records: 1 record within 1 km.
- Closest: 890 m north-west.
- Habitat: Grassland, scrub, and hedgerows on site may be used occasionally.
Otter Records: 1 record within 1 km.
- Closest: 930 m west.
- Habitat: River Arrow suitable for commuting otter.
Water Vole Records: 1 record within 1 km.
- Closest: 830 m west.
- Habitat: River Arrow suitable for burrowing and foraging
Many of those who live around Grange Lane area report seeing woodpeckers, roe deer, muntjac, badgers and of course the ever sly fox.
